Anyone tried a Range Rover workshop in Abu Dhabi that gives a written estimate?
I have a 2018 Range Rover Sport with about 81,000 kilometers, and this week I got three different quotes for the same job, which has left me more confused than before. The job is simple on paper, the front brake pads and discs plus a check of a small oil leak I noticed on the garage floor. The first place gave me a number over the phone without even seeing the car. The second one wanted me to leave it for two days before they would say anything. The third one was a small workshop that looked at the car for about ten minutes, wrote everything on paper, and gave me a clear total. That felt different, but I do not know if I am being fooled by a nice first impression. A colleague who drives a Discovery told me to look at this Range Rover repair workshop in Abu Dhabi, because he said they put everything in writing before they start. I did not know that was something to ask for. I read a little online that evening, just to understand the basics, and it explained pads, discs and why a small leak should be checked early, in easy words. It helped, but I still have questions for people who have done this before. Is a written estimate really a good sign, or can a workshop write a low price and then add extra things later? What should be on the paper, like parts, labour, tax and the time it will take? If they find something new after opening the car, is it normal for them to call me before they continue? Another thing is the oil leak. Can a small leak wait until the next service, or should I fix it together with the brakes so I do not pay twice for labour? How do I know if the leak comes from the engine, the gearbox or just a loose cap? I also wonder if I should ask them to show me the old pads and discs after the job, or if that sounds rude. Should I take photos of the car before I leave it? The car is my daily drive for work and the school run, so I cannot leave it for many days. If you used a workshop that gave a written estimate, please tell me what it looked like, if the final bill matched, and what you would ask next time. Even a small tip will help me a lot. Thanks for reading, and sorry for the long message.
