When comparing which is more accurate mirror or camera, familiarity can affect the accuracy. People tend to see themselves many times so the mirror image is more real to them, Visuals Clipping reports. The camera photograph may appear unrecognizable due to the angle at which it was taken and because it generally doesn't have the mirror reversal. While the facial features themselves are identical, variations in light, lens type and distance can alter the look.
